Rincon Partners mining proposal is an environmental loser

Rincon Partners LLC is attempting to build a 70-acre sand and gravel mine just upstream from the confluence of the Eagle and Colorado River in Dotsero, CO. This mine would be operational for a minimum of 10 years and would extract 225,000 tons of gravel per year, creating noise, dust, and heavy truck traffic along the scenic byway of the Upper Colorado River Recreation Area. Heavy industrial use is not a listed designation for this land and we must not allow officials to approve an exception to allow this gravel mine.

The proposed site is in a very vulnerable area that, if allowed, will negatively impact a complex environment in and around this river habitat. It is totally inconsistent with the protection and preservation of wildlife and water resources due to the adverse impact of mining operations.
