Stop the eviction of LaWanda M. calhoun, her family, and T.E.A.M.S Adult Family Home.

  • by: Lawanda Calhoun
  • recipient: Timothy Richard Stotts and Ruth Stotts titled on the property, but hold no financial ties to it are attempting to evict the above mentioned persons occupying the single family 4 bedroom, 2 bath dwelling.

Lawanda M. Calhoun owner/operator of T.E.A.M.S Adult Family Home (AFH), and mother of four has had a dream for over a decade to own and operate an Adult family Home licensed by the state of wisconsin, and Transitional Housing for persons with disabilities not governed by the state, but does required case field managers/social workers.  In 2008 we Timothy R. Stotts and myself LaWanda M. calhoun were in the market for a larger home to raise our children.  8312 North 97th Street was the home we chose to do so.  After the birth of our last child Tajahri we both were in agreeance that one of us should be a stay at home parent.  The job Mr. Stotts had at the time paid him annually on an average of $30,000.00 per year.  First, on my agenda was to find a job with wonderful benefits and the opportunity to make more in take home wages for Mr. Stotts. With dedication to this I filled out applications, spoke with human resources administrative staff and would spend hours on the computer. MCTS was the reward to all that hard work.  Second, on my list was to start the process of the transitional living space. I generated flyers spoke with the department of correction probation and parole division, as well as other organizations in the community.  The transitional housing became successful as well. Third, was to engage in the process of the Adult Family Home, making all this a priority while working a full-time job with 80 of overtime to help while I was on maternity leave, and still making time to meet all state requirements for the intial licensing application process.  In 2010, the AFH was licensed by the state to house persons with disabilities while being owner occupied.  Mr. Stotts at the time did not feel comfortable, and chose to move out stating he would be staying with a friend.  In July 2011 he returned, only to leave in December 2011, never to return.  Now that the home is doing well, and I have chosen to open another home in a different location Mr. Stotts along with his mother, and fiance have chosen to start an eviction base on little or no merit accept for the future wife would like to have the home.  I have clients whose family members simply will not and do not want them in another home. They love the homey atmosphere, the community outings, and the care they recieve with T.E.A.M.S.  This eviction process is nothing but personal seeing that neither Mr. Timothy or Mrs. Ruth Stotts have shown zero interest in the property evidenced by the episodes of not paying the mortgage for at least six months over the course of several months in the last two years; although the monies were deposited into the account for payment to the bank.  I am requesting the issuance of a temporary or emergency injunction pending a hearing on a permanent injunction.  An absence of an immediate temporary or emergency injunction may cause irreparable harm to my family and other house members.  I have asked Mr. Stotts as well as Mrs. Ruth Stotts to consider a land contract or assumption of the loan through Bank of Amercin for the property listed above.  It has been noted the home was abandoned by Timothy, and never occupied by Ruth. In the end the home was chosen and purchased to raise our family in regardless, if Mr. Stotts chose to remain with us or not.  He has been replaced with those that deserve and love being in a family atmosphere here at T.E.A.M.S Adult Family Home (Together Encouraging And Maintaining Stability).
