NZ Govt votes against Maui dolphin protection.

  • by: Trisha Coates
  • recipient: Minister of Conservation and Minister of Primary Industries

NZ Government is one of only two countries who voted against Protection Measures for Maui Dolphons at the International Union for Conservation of Nature. There are only 55 Maui dolphins left and the  NZ Govt opposed the ban of gill nets and trawlers in waters up to 100 meters which is the habitat of these special NZ Dolphins putting them in danger of outright extinction.
NZ Govt has voted against the protection of Antartica and now are voting against the protection of our own critically endangered species of dolphins. Tell the ministers this is not acceptable.and save the beautiful little Maui dolphins.
