Perticularly targetting a certain group of people - "The family member of qualified EU national working in UK" by Home office that he or she need to submit his/her passport for 6 months to Home office to get him /her issue residence card of UK ( or if document return application is given also, it takes two months from the date of hard paper application) is really a human rights abuse for this group of people.
For many of the other catagory of people, there is either Visa premium service centre or Europen passport return centres ( if application is done jointly) where passports can be returned in a SINGLE day.
While if EU national living in UK possess "Residence document or registration certificate" then his or her spouse (specially Non EU national spouse) can apply for residency of UK by 100 page hard paper application ONLY and can not use either Eeuopean passport return service or Visa premium service centre.
The reason is " Still online aplication system is not developed for this catagory of people by Gov.uk and hence these people can't use european passport return service."
The 100 page hard paper application also states that "If you are not able to submit original passport , you can submit any other ID proof". But it is only to say and not to obey by home office officials. I am a qualified person Portuguese lady working in UK. My husband who has Indian citizenship is one of the victim of this human rights abuse. He is only a son of his mother living in India and moreover he works in Middle east in ON/OFF cycle job. Hence he certainly has travel commitments. Still home office refused his application and asked to submit his passport for 6 months. In this case he would either defenately loose his job/ can not support his mother in her sickness or even death.
Gap of not generating online application and subsequently not allowing this group to use passport return services, will defenately BREAK EUROPEAN FAMILIES LIVING IN UK.
Please allow above mentioned people also to either use European passport return services or visa premium service centers and remove holding of passport for 6 month by home office by any category of people for the purpose of issuing residency of UK.
