Senator Joni Ernst just showed herself (again) to be a truly awful human being. Please join us in condemning her actions, and demanding a real apology.

"Senator Ernst, I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment over your recent comments regarding Medicaid and the vulnerable Americans who depend on it.
During your town hall meeting in Iowa, a constituent raised a serious and heartfelt concern about the consequences of proposed Medicaid cuts, particularly the risk of death for those who rely on the program for life-saving care. Your response — "Well, we all are going to die" — was not only dismissive but alarmingly indifferent to the fears and realities faced by millions of Americans.
Your subsequent social media post, in which you delivered a sarcastic "apology" from a cemetery, further compounded the harm. Rather than showing empathy or reconsidering the impact of your words, you chose to mock the very real distress of your constituents and downplay the life-and-death consequences of policy decisions made in Washington.
Senator Ernst, elected officials have a responsibility to listen to their constituents with empathy and to engage with serious concerns in good faith. Millions of Americans — including children, seniors, and people with disabilities — depend on Medicaid not as a luxury, but as a lifeline.
I urge you to issue a sincere, public apology. Not just for your sarcastic video, but for the original callous remark. Your constituents deserve better, and so does the nation."
