Ban Plastic Bags in Lee County, FL - Stop the trail of plastic into our food chain and into us.

Plastic bags, they aren't biodegradable. They break down into smaller pieces and enter the food chain. They enter us. The one time single use of plastic bags is detrimental to our environment, wildlife, ocean and, therefore, ourselves. The U.S. goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually. Lee County needs to join Coral Gables ( see video in this petition ), and as of 1 March 2019, California, Hawaii, most of Massachusetts, the 62 countries who have introduced bans, with varying degrees of enforcement, and 31 countries instead impose a charge per bag. Lee County has a very delicate ecosystem that is in danger without our help and cooperation to stop water pollution. Florida is a major United States peninsula reaching out into our precious oceans, and Lee County plays a major part in what flows and goes into our rivers and the Gulf, we need to take a stand now! Sign this to tell our commissioners you want to phase out and ban plastic bags. Plastic bag bans are coming, Lee County should be a leader, get ahead of this movement and ban the bags now.
