Trump is Committing a Crime Against Humanity by Pulling WHO Funding

Trump's main strategy for everything seems to be shifting blame for his mistakes onto other people. The most recent target is the World Health Organization (WHO), which Trump has unilaterally decided to stop funding because he says they handled COVID-19 poorly. In reality, he himself handled and continues to handle the COVID-19 pandemic extremely poorly. Additionally, defunding the main unified health organization helping fight it worldwide would literally be a crime against humanity, as defined by the United Nations.

Sign on if you want the U.S. to keep funding the WHO!

In fact, WHO developed a test within days of the virus sequencing's release in January and offered it to the whole world. Trump said "no thanks" and that delay has cost tens of thousands of American lives so far, as of April 15th. If this pandemic has shown us anything, it's just how interconnected the whole world is and therefore how it's in everyone's best interest to make sure we all have appropriate healthcare.

The U.S. is the single biggest contributor to the WHO and this stop in funding will absolutely cost lives across the globe. But in typical single-minded nationalism fashion, Trump doesn't care about anyone besides himself. He doesn't even care about his own citizens, as evidenced by the fact that he knew how bad this pandemic would be in January and did nothing for months. Now he says he's withholding funding to the WHO for 60-90 days while an investigation looks into their response. But actually, it's Trump's response that needs to be investigated.

The World Health Organization has done more globally to combat the coronavirus pandemic than Trump by magnitudes. It's critical they have enough resources to keep going. Sign on to demand the U.S. continues to fund the WHO!
