Propose A Bottle Bill in Wisconsin

Littering is still an epidemic, and it doesn't appear that neither current litter laws, ad campaigns, and self-education regarding environmental stewardship are enough to curb peoples' willingness to carelessly litter and unwillingness to responsibly recycle their bottles and cans. Bottle Bills have been shown to reduce littering and increase recycling in the states that currently have Bottle Bills. Please work with me to contact my legislators and inform them that we would support a bottle bill in our state.

From Bottlebills.org:

In the decade of 2001-2010, Americans landfilled, incinerated or littered enough aluminum cans to reproduce the world's entire commercial air fleet 25 times.  More than 100 million tons of beverage containers have been wasted in the last decade--or about 1.5
trillion individual bottles and cans. 2/3rds of the weight is from glass bottles, while aluminum cans and plastic bottles account for only 7% and 28% of the weight, respectively. Valued at 2012 prices, the scrap value of 10 years of wasted containers is more than $22 billion (more than $12 billion in aluminum, $8.9 billion in PET, and $1.3 billion in glass.)
