To: Kilmarnock Mayor & Town Council,
Again it seems you are trying to put our water/sewer system in jeopardy right after our concern that you would even consider hiring someone to value the system simply because of an inquiry from AQUA Virginia about purchasing it.
If you intended to do this you should have made it a campaign issue. Many times council members have indicated they spent money on what they felt was something good for the town and backed it up with "and we didn't raise your taxes or water rates".
The water/sewer system in Kilmarnock is a service to the people and businesses and should never be raised in price. It has not made money for decades and should be funded by excess money that the town seems to have for other projects to keep the rates the same.
The entire purpose of controlling the system is to give the citizens the best rates possible and you may even consider a reduction in rates.
We call upon you to give up any notion of a price increase of any kind and keep the current rates which are high enough.
