Support Franklin Fields

We the undersigned Franklin Fields Drive homeowners are deeply disturbed by the prospect of a four-fold increase in traffic volume resulting from the proposed connection with the Estates at Franklin Fields. Franklin Fields Drive is a narrow, windy street where many of our children play and residents can frequently be found out for a walk. We urge the Mayor and Franklin Park Borough Council to ensure that all reasonable alternatives are fully explored, which at a minimum should include:

1. Creating the second required public street along Shepard Lane or Fern Hill Lane;

2. Using the alignment of the proposed access road to the southern detention facility to create a full or one-way access via McAleer Road;

Both of these options provide superior traffic safety and circulation to the applicant’s present proposal.

3. If Wheatfield Drive is extended then it should be gated with use restricted to emergency and other official vehicles; or

4. Limiting the Estates at Franklin Fields to a maximum of 40 homes which would eliminate the need to connect to two public streets.
