Demand the Department of Justice fight to overturn Florida’s bigoted “Don’t Say Gay” law

On March 28th, Governor Ron DeSantis signed the infamous and deeply evil "Don't Say Gay" bill into law, banning the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools until deemed "developmentally appropriate."

It's a disgusting attempt to institutionalize anti-LGBTQ bigotry in the public school system, flying in the face of the right to free speech that Florida pretends to cherish so deeply.

Add your name to call on the Biden administration to fight to overturn DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay law!"

The deliberate vagueness of the restrictions is explicitly designed to terrify LGBTQ kids and their supporting adults, forcing them back into the closet out of fear that any wrong move could land them in serious legal trouble. But that's also what makes the law obviously unconstitutional.

The precedent of Keyishian v. Board of Regents ruled that "any statute governing classroom speech must not be so vague that people 'of common intelligence must necessarily guess at its meaning and differ as to its application'" — which the anti-gay law relies upon to function at all.

The Department of Justice has a moral and legal obligation to aggressively challenge this hateful law and fight for the rights of LGBTQ Floridian kids to be themselves.
