Hollywood Used a Live Dolphin Show to Promote the New Avatar Movie

A recent event promoting Avatar 2: The Way of Water in Japan featured a live show by captive dolphins. Any dolphin show is harmful: the noise and chaos of dolphin performances is proven to be cruel and painful to the beloved sea mammals.

Hypocritically, this dolphin show took place at an event promoting a movie which centers around understanding the remarkable intelligence and emotional capacity of animals.

Sign now to demand James Cameron make a public statement against what happened. We must also demand that Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa rehome all of its captive dolphins!

In an email, Cameron states that he had no idea the facility would pull this stunt. He claims that he assumed the park was invested in conservation and education. Regardless, his face is attached to this event, and he must release a public statement to condemn this forced animal entertainment.

Japan is one of the only countries in the world that actively rounds up and captures dolphins for captivity and sale. Animals that aren't sold are then slaughtered by the thousands. It is crucial that celebrities with a platform speak out against the country's cruel treatment of these brilliant, charismatic animals - especially when dolphins are used for entertainment at their events.

Forcing dolphins to perform in shows for human amusement is abuse. Every sea mammal deserves better!

James Cameron must make a public statement condemning the stunt and Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa must release all captive dolphins to sanctuaries or back into the wild immediately. Sign the petition now if you agree!
