Demand the Return of the Elgin Marbles Now!

On another recent trip to Greece I was delighted to visit the Acropolis again and walk around the new Acropolis Museum.
However, I found myself being ashamed to be British, given that a certain Scottish diplomat called Lord Elgin, long before the introduction of export licenses, effectively looted and ransacked the Acropolis between 1801-1805 and brought the famous Marbles back to London.
Give that Greece has shown beyond all doubt that it is more than capable of protecting them and restoring them to their rightful home in Athens, the time has come when they must be returned.
If we are to leave Europe, there could be no better departing gesture than the restoration of these wonderful treasures to their rightful owner.
