I was surprised to read that the USDA does not reveal the names of puppy mill operators; this was in a recent report by the HSUS. This is, in essence, a government agency funded by the taxpayers, protecting people who are, by definition of a puppy mill, almost certainly criminals. The USDA ceased inspection of these pits of horror and misery under the Trump regime. Tell the USDA that this is beyond defense, that it must get off its collective posterior and resume doing its job, however poorly, and stop allowing these mills and their owners to hide behind their governmental auspices.
There is another source of this information, from two or more private concerns: the AKC, the UKC and other smaller private registries: the mills apply for thousands of puppies annually. Public pressure on the registries would help to reveal and further the ongoing effort to close the mills.
There are thus three targets for this petition: the USDA, the AKC, the UKC.
