Stand Against Seismic Testing Near Kangaroo Island!

Seismic testing can cause hearing loss, internal bleeding, and even death in marine wildlife. But the government still might allow Bight Petroleum to use it to explore for oil and gas between Kangaroo Island and Eyre Peninsula.

The waters around Kangaroo Island are one of just three breeding grounds for endangered blue whales in the entire world. In addition, the island boasts thriving whale, sea lion and dolphin populations, all of which are at risk of harm from seismic testing.

The Kangaroo Island Council hopes that Environmental Minister Mark Butler will understand the island's importance to South Australia and reject Bight Petroleum's application.

Please sign the petition to urge Mark Butler to stand against seismic testing near Kangaroo Island!

As you know, Bight Petroleum has applied for an oil and gas exploration between Kangaroo Island and Eyre Peninsula. We understand that the Australian Federal Government has ordered a full environmental assessment of the planned survey in May.

The Kangaroo Island community is concerned about risks that the petroleum industry will pose to their wildlife. The island boasts thriving whale, sea lion and dolphin populations which attract tourists and generate revenue for the community. We hope that you will understand the island's importance to South Australia and reject Bight Petroleum's application. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
