Blizzards Against Bullying

Bullying often leads to suicide. Looking at the numbers alone,

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.

  • Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University

Something must be done! Let's ask Dairy Queen or another ice cream brand to team up with our schools to raise awareness!

Anti-bullying behavior rewarded with ice cream!

Dear Dairy Queen

As you may have noticed, you have been tagged quite often the last few days by numerous people. Your blizzard has become a popular photo on social media.

Recently an Indie book cover model fat-shamed a romance reader and told her to go eat a blizzard and kill herself because she was overweight.
The book world came together to stand up to his bullying by posting photos of the blizzard and saying how people of any size can love it, that doesn’t make them fat or deserve to be told to commit suicide.
I am hopeful Dairy Queen will consider taking a stand against bullying as well. Suicide prevention is a huge topic right now as well as bullying.

According to the statistics, bully victims are up to 9 times more likely to kill themselves than non-bully victims.

160,000 kids miss school every single day due to bullying.

Let's make this bigger than some book blogs, let's team up with schools across the country and raise awareness! What better way to get kids attention and reward good behavior for standing against bullying and suicide than by rewarding them with a blizzard?
Let’s take a negative and turn it into a positive by making your blizzard stand against bullying.
I’m sure you can come up with some amazing flavor, like chocolate covered cherry kisses? Something that shares love and peace and support and stands against bullying.

I’ll work on getting at least 500 signatures from people that will support you.

I look forward to seeing Dairy Queen and the Blizzard stand up against bullies in the future.

Update #17 years ago
This petition is now solely going to focus on getting Dairy Queen or another ice cream brand to join with local schools and communities to show support against bullying and to raise suicide prevention and awareness.
This petition has no connection to recent author/model issues on social media and we ask that no bullying or finger pointing be associated with this cause.
Thank you for your support.
