Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to bring to light the fact that handlers and workers at a Birnamwood Dairy Farm have been video-taped abusing and harming the cows. Mercy for Animals placed the undercover cameras in an attempt to further investigate any cruelty and abuse of these poor animals.

Owners and family members of this family-owned dairy farm in Birnamwood, WI appeared to be appalled and shocked when they were presented with the video coverage showing their staff kicking and punching cows, spraying them in the face with high-pressure water hoses and cutting off cows' tails with pruning shears. No one contested the events shown on the video coverage of the Andrus Dairy Farm taped by an animal rights group known as Mercy for Animals. The proprietors vow that they intended to curb such abuse from ever reoccurring.

The owner of the farm, Mr. Andrus stated that "We were shocked to see some of our employees not following appropriate animal-handling practices on our farm. No one in our family was aware of such conduct occurring on our farm." In addition to the video tapes, an undercover investigator was also sent to work at the farm for more than a month to see the handling up close. He was hired at the farm and wore a hidden camera while trying to keep a low profile from other fellow farmers. Despite the abuse around him, he tried not to draw any suspicion while proving the case. He stated that "This is not an isolated incident. This is representative of the kinds of treatment of animals at dairy farms across the country."

Mercy for Animals continue their quest to investigate other dairy farms and ensure that such practices are stopped. We are seeking the harshest punishment for such abusers including having them fired. Dairy farms need to ensure their workers are highly trained on proper animal care, that they be fully monitored with their own cameras throughout all facilities and implement strict laws against any abuse or cruelty - no second chances. Once an abuser is let go, they need to be banned from ever owning, caring for or working with animals in any capacity for the rest of their lives. If facilities do not abide by these stipulations, they need to be shut down immediately. These videos are so horrific; you can view photos and the full story at http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/story/news/local/2014/11/12/animal-rights-group-filmed-video-cow-abuse/18911327/.

We urge you to please support this very important issues and help to protect farm animals and those in dairy facilities from being so cruelly treated and abused.

Mercy for Animals, Dairy Farmers Association - Thank you for your diligent work in trying to uncover animal abuse and cruelty throughout dairy farms everywhere, especially those noted in Wisconsin. However, you have to do more to ensure that these animals without a voice are no longer subjected to such cruel behaviors by untrained, abusive farm workers. Somehow, these owners and proprietors of dairy farms are hiring just about anyone to take care of their cows with little regard to their experience and proper training. Owners such as Mr. Andrus believes that if he makes employees sign an animal-care commitment, it will bring increased oversight to the handling of animals. This is not going to resolve animal abuse cases as such except on paper. You need to work with local police forces to implement the harshest punishment for such abusers including having them fired. Please help in being a voice for all these farm animals and stop the abuse on dairy farms!
