Reinstate the Park City Black Lives Matter Mural

On July 4th, a group of local artists painted four murals on the pavement of Park City's historic Main Street. Four days later, during the night, the Black Lives Matter mural was defaced.

The word "Black" was entirely gone, and the black power fist which made up the "i" in "Lives" was removed as well.

When asked for a comment, Park City mayor Andy Beerman incorrectly described these actions as "an act of petty vandalism" instead of what they really are, a hate crime in an otherwise thought to be progressive town. Beerman further stated "We will use this event to further our community dialogue about social inequities", but this is not enough. We want action.

This petition calls for the reinstation of the mural and an active search on the part of the city into who defaced the original.
