Ensure citizen safety by reducing speed limit on SE Gomez Ave. to 25 mph

SE Gomez Ave. in Hobe Sound, FL is an active community thoroughfare with hundreds of walkers, bicyclists and little ones enjoying what the community zone has to offer daily and nightly. Many students utilize the easy walk or bike ride to the Elementary school and the Bible school/college as well as people walking or biking as their daily recreation.

Drivers in all types of vehicles consistently exceed the posted speed limit by at least 10-20 miles per hour and often reaching highway speeds which is extremely dangerous in the highly active foot and bicycle traffic on SE Gomez. Also, those exiting the many driveways and side streets that adjoin SE Gomez are at increased risk of being struck by an unsafe-speeding driver. This poses a major threat to the safety to all.

Additionally, Bridge Rd and Pettway In Hobe Sound are 25 miles per hour east of Dixie Hwy and the posted speed limit is enforced. The SE Gomez community extends beyond Bridge Rd to the north on SE Gomez Ave. Also, there isn't any active commercial frontage on SE Gomez Ave. north of the Bible school/college.

Finally, SE Gomez Ave. is being used as a "short cut" to and from the Town of Jupiter Island by many service people. Drivers find it convenient to use Osprey, Cutoff and Petway to SE Gomez as a means to save time and speed to avoid Dixie Hwy and Federal Hwy Traffic lights at the expense of the safety of the residents in the SE Gomez community. The same drivers depart the Town of Jupiter Island and speed up Gomez Ave.

Please consider the safety and lives of many little ones, students and adults by reducing the speed limit on SE Gomez to 25 miles per hour.
