Pledge to Wear a #SafetyPin to Show Solidarity With Immigrants & People of Colour

In the wake of the Brexit vote, the UK is seeing a rise in racist and xenophobic actions and crimes against immigrants and minorities across the country. In light of this horrible upsurge in anti-immigrant sentiment Allison, an American living in the UK, has come up with an idea to help immigrants across the country feel safer.

She is asking people to wear a safety pin in a prominent place to show solidarity with immigrants and people of colour, to let them know that you are a safe person to be around and will support that person if they are victim to hate crimes.

If you are a victim or a witness to a hate crime you can do several things to be supportive:

  • Check the victim is OK
  • If safe to do so, challenge it, both on the street and online
  • Make a recording with photos or video with your phone
  • Report it to the police

Sign today to pledge to wear a safety pin and to support the millions of immigrants and people of colour living in the UK. By signing today you are offering a safe face in the crowd, showing that caring is stronger than hate.
