Chris Patricca is an elected school board member in Lee County Florida. She also holds the position as President of the Florida School Board Association and is a Chair on the Florida High School Athletic Association. For the last five years the children, employees, fellow board members and citizens of Lee County have endured a barrage of abuse from Chris Patricca. We are tired of being subjected to years of Patricca's abuse of power, bullying, retaliatory acts, racism, xenophobia, neglect of duty, misuse of office and outright lies.
Your organization should not be the organization that teaches your president or chair how to behave and how to be a decent human being. (It is not the appropriate for the FSBA or FHSAA to now teach a 51 year old women who has a law degree to understand cultural diversity. The notion is absurd.
Chris Patricca has orchestrated false complaints and investigations against fellow board members and private citizens. She has influenced pay for play deals with vendor's contracts and school site selections for the building of new schools. Patricca has lied during public board meetings to the public about important financial matters. She lacks principles, professionalism, values, and personal integrity. Patricca has made several racist and xenophobic comments about students and of our "only" black school board member, Gwyn Gittens, throughout her years on the board. The last incident occurred 3 weeks ago when she made several false, derogatory, racist comments about Guatemalan students. Your President of the FSBA and FHSAA chair of Section 3-4 School Boards has been the leading source of discord on the Lee County School Board. She violates key tenants of the FSBA and FHSAA Governance Models and Mission Statements. This is corroborated in a letter to Andrea Messina, Executive Director the FSBA, in a letter written by Lee County Board Member Betsy Vaughn.
Patricca wrote a letter threatening the superintendent and calling for the cancellation of his contract because he would not bend to her special requests. In June of 2021,the Lee County Board Attorney Kathy Bruno, a black Haitian woman, placed a letter in her personal file detailing bullying, harassment and demands from Chris Patricca trying to coerce her to break policies and statutes. Patriccahas repeatedly violated Sunshine laws and has filed false ethic complaints. In August of 2021, Patricca voted against a resolution to acknowledge Hispanic Heritage month. A tradition that has been recognized for years in our school district of majority minority Hispanics.
How can the FHSAA Board of Directors, which is composed of the Chancellor of Education, Superintendents, Principals, and Athletic Directors, and the FSBA Board of Directors support the participation of a board member who clearly doesn't represent ALL of the students in Florida?
Many of the citizens in the state of Florida await your response. Your bylaws and mission statement do not support racism, abuse of power and bullying behavior.
