Get Louis C.K. Off Stage For Good

There was a moment where there was some truly interesting and striking comedy coming out of Louis C.K.'s gotee-covered mouth. That moment is over — which is why it's truly bizarre that he is still given stage time

Sign on if you'd like The Comedy Cellar to ban him from performing ever again.

C.K. got into trouble last year when it came out that he has a serial sexual harassment problem. At least 5 women have told stories of him masturbating in front of them without their consent, some under the threat of him ruining their own comedy careers. That's assault and there is nothing funny about it. He's lost some gigs (and some money, as he loves to point out) because of his criminal behavior. Yet, he is still given stage time, attention and adulation.

He showed up at the Comedy Cellar in New York recently and did one of the most heinous and lazy sets. He spent time making fun of the Parkland Survivors for their advocacy work, saying they don't deserve attention and are doing the wrong thing. He complained about losing money due to his own actions and he took a bunch of hits at gender pronouns. None of it was necessary and none of it was funny. Not to mention that people may have been in the audience that really did not want to support a sexual predator, but the performance was a surprise so they lost their agency.

Andy Richter agrees. He said in a tweet: "We are seeing a cliche in action. Comedy man meets consequences. Comedy man becomes "truth teller" by fishing in a barrel of societally sensitive topics. What a gigantic yawn. What a waste. What a lost opportunity for an artist to do some art."

So it seems like not only is Louis C.K. a serial predator, but he's also not creating anything even good or interesting or striking anymore. So let's tell The Comedy Cellar, a club that by and large sets the trends in that world, to keep C.K. off stage going forward.
