Kansas – Be Adamant In Enforcing Stricter Animal Cruelty Laws, Charges & Penalties

Animal cruelty is generally described as intentional harm, torture, mutilation and eventual death of a defenseless creature.  Any abuse and abandonment is a crime against an animal and needs to be more severely charged in order for these acts to stop.  Kansas has made attempts to create more severe laws known as Scruffy and Magnum laws, yet they were rarely put into practice. How will such abuse stop if not enforcing the laws?  Read more about these laws at  http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/PDF/AnimalCrueltyLaws.pdf & http://aldf.org/wp-content/themes/aldf/compendium-map/us/2015/KANSAS15.pdf

The laws proposed in Kansas were named after two dogs that underwent atrocious treatment while on this earth; a Yorkshire terrier named Scruffy was set on fire after being fatally beaten and Magnum was wrapped in wire with burns on its body and a broken leg.  Unless such laws are more strictly enforced with more stringent penalties, these gruesome acts will never stop.

I want to see that all states nationwide implement felony charges, including Kansas, for any and all crimes against poor defenseless animals, ensuring that abusers receive longer jail sentences, higher fees, possibly acts of community service hours and also being placed on an animal cruelty registry to be shared nationwide with anyone within the animal sales, care, breeding and treatment. Additionally, such abusers need to be banned for lifetime working with, caring for or owning animals for the rest of their life. There shouldn’t be any second chances because it should be common knowledge that abusing an animal, just like abusing a human is wrong and unjust.

There is never a reason to intentionally harm an animal.  In some instances, accidents and actions for self-defense do occur and seriously need to be proven when it comes to repercussions for harming an animal.  These defenseless creatures need and deserve humans to step in and ensure that abusers be held accountable for any and all forms of intentional animal cruelty.

The purpose of this petition is to encourage the Kansas State Legislators to implement and strictly enforce more stringent animal cruelty charges and penalties as a means of stopping the acts of abuse against these living and breathing beings.  You can help with this issue by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own comments and thoughts.

Kansas State Legislators – I strongly urge you to implement and strictly enforce more stringent animal cruelty charges and penalties as a means of stopping the acts of abuse against these living and breathing beings. Additionally, such abusers need to be banned for lifetime working with, caring for or owning animals for the rest of their life.
