This Country's Military is Blowing Up Pigs to Test Body Armor

Thanks to a recent exposé a bright light has been shone on a dark program that has killed nearly 50,000 animals each year. Who is responsible for the torture, maiming, and murder of helpless creatures? The British Armed Forces.

According to reports, "scientists" and "researchers" at the top-secret Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down conducted grotesque experiments on the animals in their care. Pigs were blown apart to test body armor effectiveness. Monkeys were infected with biological agents such as anthrax and forced to inhale mustard gas. One experiment even required the deadly nerve agent VX to be administered to the backs of guinea pigs only to gauge their reactions to the excruciating chemical.

Although the program has just come to light, it has reportedly been going on since 2010. An up to date body count has not been taken; however, between 2010 and 2017 more than 48,000 animals have died. That averages out to nearly 20 animals a day!

The practice of torturing animals in order to create better weapons to hurt humans seems like a sick plot to a science fiction novel. Unfortunately, it's not a fantasy. It's real and it continues to happen even as you read this petition.

There is no excuse for this type of barbarism, especially in a nation that has strong animal cruelty laws. It is not ok to make special caveats to torture animals as long as it is in the benefit of military defense. These experiments are a shame to the United Kingdom and should be banned now.

If you agree please sign the petition asking the British Ministry of Defence to cease these experiments now.
