We Demand Change at GCA

We the undersigned parents, learning coaches, and students of GCA, would like to call to your attention, the displeasure we feel regarding your newly instituted attendance policy. GCA serves students of various backgrounds, religions, socio/economic circumstances, and educational/developmental levels. The majority of parents, selected GCA for their child's education, because of the flexibility, slower pace, and individualized learning that you advertise.

With the advent of your new ATTENDANCE POLICY,  where for example, if a child misses their 3 scheduled class connects on Monday, they are marked absent for 3 days, is abusive. If they miss classes on a given day, that should count as 1 day absent not 3 days. This does not occur in brick and mortar schools, nor any work places.

Flexibility has been eliminated, leaving students, parents and learning coaches, frustrated, overwhelmed, and disheartened. So, for the aforementioned reasons, we demand you revisit your attendance policy and make revisions. School is supposed to be a place of learning, not a place for punishment. Your policy punishes students for being ill, your policy punishes students for having appointments, your policy punishes students for wanting to be a child, and have a social life, and social interactions. We will not stop, until we are heard regarding this issue.

The Parents of GCA.
