Large amounts of seals are being killed every year by commercial fisherman. Seal pups are being slaughtered for their fur only 8% of the seal is being used and the 92% remaining is being thrown away in the ocean or let on the ice to decompose. Seal fur products are bought as luxury ideas not something that is really necesity . Some companies have tried to create new ways for people to buy products that contain seal. Companies have tried selling seal meet as energy drinks, oils, and even paint but everything failed but they companies are still producing these items.
These baby seals are being slaughtered in two ways which include either getting clubbed repeatedly or getting shot. The brutal beating can still leave the seal conscious and then the hunters still use a boat hook to drag the seal on the floor. Then the hunters use a sharp blade to remove the fur from the baby seals while they are still conscious. After the fur is removed it is set to dry then manufactured to companies that create a variety of unwanted products. Such as coats, shoes, boots, and other useless accessories.
About 35 countries have band the importations of seal products. Canada is one of the countries that has not band seal hunting. Its government financially supporting these slaughters and hunts in order to produce these unnecessary products. The goal is to band completely the slaughtering of seals and to stop selling license to hunters that allow this to be legal.
