Declawing is banned in 22 countries :take a look at your knuckle and imagine if you had from the knuckle up amputated and imagine how your life would change, imagine having to walk on the stubs of your fingers. This is beyond cruel, declawing consists of ten seperate amputations from the bone, a large majority of declawed cats end up being re homed due to phantom pains,arthritis and other associated problems.
What folks don't realize is that there are so many solutions to declawing: kitty caps are a great alternative, scratching posts even squirt bottles.
I do blame a lot of declawing procedures on vets and lack of information to pet owners. When you call in to have your cat spayed/neutered , you are given the option of declawing. Owners think " well the vets a professional so I should trust him. A good vet will educate you on declawing and why you shouldn't do it. It's not as simple as upgrading your combo to a supersize, this rash decision affects their life's and possibly yours.
Canada needs to be the 23 rd country who bans this horrific procedure, so I ask my fellow animal lovers to please sign, spread the word together we can make a difference
