CHANGE THE RESTRICTIVE LOCKPORT OVERNIGHT PARKING ORDINANCE

Since making this petition, the city of lockport has increased the price of overnight night parking tickets by 50% from $20 to $30. The amount of nights you are allowed to register has not since changed.

My plan is to request an increase of nights allowed for registering. If anyone out there has any other good ideas on how the rules can be changed please submit them here or feel free to reach out to me on instagram or facebook!!

June of 2019:

As of now, you are only allowed to register your vehicle's license plate 2 nights out of the entire month on any street in lockport. Once your two registered nights are used, you may not park your vehicle on any Lockport street without receiving a $20 parking ticket between the hours of 3 and 6 am.

These overnight parking rules are put into place to maintain the safety of our streets at night. This helps to monitor abandoned cars and cars linked to criminal activity. It is required that you register your car online so that the police know that the car is supposed to be there.

Surrounding cities have similar rules to maintain safety. However, lockport has the most restrictive amount of nights out of 15 surrounding towns and villages. For example, Tinley Park requires you to register your car so that the police know that it should be there but they allow an unlimited amount of nights that you can register.

Please sign this petition if you believe that there should be a change to these restrictive rules.
