Join Cher & Lily Tomlin In Saving Billy The Elephant From Constant Pain!

Billy the elephant has been stuck in LA zoo ever since he was four years old, and his captivity is taking a terrible tole on his health.

Cher and Lily Tomlin have stood forward to call for him to be released to a sanctuary. Do your part to help make it happen!

“He is in pain both physically and psychologically. He spends 80% of his time rocking back and forth. This behavior is called stereotypic behavior and is widely known to be a sign of distress. It is never seen in wild elephants," said Cher.

"Billy is standing on hard, packed dirt in a small, sterile environment. In the wild, he would be walking hundreds of miles a day on soft earth. In the zoo, Billy can’t choose what he eats. At a sanctuary he will have choices,” she added, in an interview with PEOPLE.

Lily Tomlin has joined with Cher to help get Billy released, so that he can go to a wonderful sanctuary operated by the Performing Animal Welfare Society.

According to Cher, PAWS is ready to receive Billy right now. She said he "would have 15 acres to roam in the sanctuary", rather than the 3.6 acres he currently has, reported by the same article.

Lily and Cher believe that Billy will have a much better life at the sanctuary, and I agree with them 100%!

The bad part is, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Zoo said that they have "no intentions of sending Billy to a sanctuary". Your help is needed to change that!

Billy is suffering for the sake of human entertainment. Don't you think it's time to put an end to that?

Then add your name to demand that Tom Jacobson, President of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, take the action necessary to release Billy once and for all, so that he can live at the PAWS sanctuary!
