Demand to End the Killing of Bottle Kittens at the Humane Society of Summit County!

  • by: Wendy S
  • recipient: Diane Johnson, President & CEO and Patrick Weschler, Chair, Board of Directors, United States

We, the undersigned residents of Summit County, petition the Summit County Executive to remove the President & CEO of the Summit County Humane Society, Diane Johnson, from her position as director. We request this because of inhumane practices, which have been employed under her leadership. Not only do we request she be removed, but we also request they implement a Kitten Bottle Feeding Program immediately. Recently it has come to light that The Humane Society of Summit County has started killing any bottle kittens they can't find fosters for and they're not willing to let staff try to save them. Staff at the Humane Society have been leaving left and right due to poor management and inhumane practices.

We, the undersigned residents of Summit County believe the citizens of the County deserve a better Shelter and better management. We believe by implementing a proven successful Kitten Bottle Feeding Program, we can save thousands of kittens in Summit County. For example, we could look at what the Stratford Animal Rescue Society in Stratford, Connecticut is doing with their STARS Kitten Bottle Feeding Program or look at KC Pet Project in Kansas City, MO and their Bottle Baby Squad.
