Help End Farm Animal Abuse NOW.

To those of you who are already saving animal's lives by living a vegan lifestyle, keep up the good work and enjoy the clear conscience that comes with it =)

But while there is still money to made in the meat and dairy industry, animals will continue to be abused unecessarily. A number of organisations have shed light on the treatment of animals behind the scenes in meat factories and even dairy factories. The animals live in an unclean, unhealthy environment; all crammed together with little or no room for movement. These animals, born to roam and graze; are no longer even given the basic need of being able to stretch their legs.

Then again, many of them are unable to stretch their legs even if they tried to. Their bodies are pumped so full of antibiotics to help speed up their growth, and with it, the factory's profit; that their legs buckle under the weight of their over-sized bodies.

Chickens, cattle, and pigs raised for meat, all have devastingly difficult and unnatural lives. After being overloaded with antibiotics they don't need, more often than not being crippled as a result; being deprived of fresh air and sufficient room to move, after living in over-crowded and unhygienic conditions; being bored due to lack of stimulation - often to the point of madness, and often being beaten for no apparent reason (I have yet to witness a reason for the beatings shown through various footage I have watched); they are finally given relief from their pain and boredom. But even this causes further pain and suffering to these animals, who have already endured so much for the sake of being put on someone's plate.

The journey to slaughter for these animals is never pretty to say the least, and some footage has actually shown animals incapable of movement being dragged from large, overcrowded lorries. Once the animal has arrived at it's final destination, they each go through different processes. But each of these types of animals are strung up by their legs to be killed and have their throats slit, either by hand or by some form of mechanical contraption. In many different pieces of video footage, I have witnessed animals, particularly pigs and cattle, left hanging there squealing in pain and die slowly as a result. This kind of suffering is completely unecessary and can easily be avoided.

If people are going to continue to eat these innocent animals the least we can do is provide some sort of regular and pain-free life for them. Slaughter will never be acceptable to me, but if it is going to happen, it would be kind to do it in a humane way; whether through the use of carbon dioxide or another method of ensuring the animal feels no pain when being slaughtered. And these animals deserve to live a natural, drug free, life; in a suitable environment. Free range all the way (:

I will be campaigning further to end slaughter altogether, but that will be an immense task and will most likely fall on deaf ears for a very long time, so the first step of action must be to give these animals the best possible standard of living.

They cannot speak for themselves, I urge you to have your say for them.

Thank you =)

Dear President Obama / Prime Minister Cameron,

Firstly, PM Cameron, congratulations on your recent success in the election, you must be thrilled all your hard work has paid off.

We the undersigned, have signed this petition and are presenting it to you as a request to please listen to the details of this letter and make a change to the way our factory farm animals are treated. This is an age-old issue and I urge you to strongly consider making a change to the way these animals are reared and handled throughout their entire lives.

It is appreciated that free-range farming is a popular option and is available for consumers, however these factories who continue to run in a cruel manner must be forced to take better care of the animals they rear and/or keep. A number of organisations have shed light on the treatment of animals behind the scenes in meat factories and even dairy factories. The animals live in an unclean, unhealthy environment; and in worst cases are all crammed together with little or no room for movement. These animals, born to roam and graze; are no longer even given the basic need of being able to stretch their legs.

Then again, many of them are unable to stretch their legs even if they were given room to do so. Their bodies are pumped so full of antibiotics to help speed up their growth that their legs buckle under the weight of their over-sized bodies.

Our factory farm animals raised for meat have devastingly difficult and unnatural lives. They endure overuse of drugs they do not need, deprivation of fresh air and in worst cases room to move, unhygienic conditions, boredom due to lack of stimulation, and in severe cases beatings without reason. Not only this, but even their slaughter causes further pain and suffering to these animals, who have already endured so much for the sake of being put on someone's plate.

The journey to slaughter for these animals is never pretty to say the least, and some footage has actually shown animals incapable of movement being dragged from large, overcrowded lorries. Once the animal has arrived at its final destination, they each go through different processes. But each of these types of animals are strung up by their legs to be killed and have their throats slit, either by hand or by some form of mechanical contraption. In many different pieces of video footage, animals have been witnessed left hanging squealing in pain and die slowly as a result. This kind of suffering is completely unecessary and can easily be avoided.

If people are going to continue to eat these innocent animals the least we can do is provide some sort of regular and pain-free life for them. If these animals are to be slaughtered, it would be kind to do it in a humane way; whether through anasthetic or another method of ensuring the animal feels no pain when being slaughtered. At the very least, the animal should have a very quick death and not be left to bleed to death slowly and painfully as has been shown to happen. The use of carbon dioxide is the kindest way but perhaps not the most practical. It should certainly be considered and administered in as many cases as possible however. Alternatives, though less animal-friendly, are a well placed - by a trained proffesional - gunshot to the head to cause instant death, or stunning the animal, through electrical shock - however there is a question mark to how effective this actually is - please bear this in mind. I urge you to protect these factory animals and create or update legislation which prohibits the mistreatment of our animals and ensures they are legally entitled to space and a healthy, normal lifestyle and a humane sluaghtering.

Free range farming should be the only way of keeping these animals which we so readily use for our own personal needs. Please ensure all our farm animals are allowed to live outdoors, with adequate shelter for bad weather and cold nights. Please ensure they are fed an appropriate, healthy diet - which in turn is healthier for those who consume the meat.  Please ban the administration of drugs to these animals and ensure they do not suffer any harm or ill-handling. There are a significant number of free range farms, which proves it is possible and still profitable to provide a decent life for these animals. Organizations such as the RSCPA (UK) can, and already do, monitor some free range farms to ensure welfare needs are met. This should be the case with all farming establishments. There is already legislation in place protecting farm animals (such as Five Freedoms and Animal Welfare Act 2006), yet this legislation is being abused. This must end.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, please use the power you hold in your position to speak for these animals who cannot speak for themselves.
