Call for Gender Equity Committee at CHAI

    It is time for CHAI to address equity, diversity, and inclusion in recruitment and for its global workforce. All CHAI staff deserve to work for an organization that makes transparent efforts to create a workplace that is safe, welcoming, and just for all employees, including Black people, Indigenous people, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer employees, and people of color.
    Until now, CHAI’s efforts have fallen short. Because of a lack of formal avenues for soliciting feedback, inequities and injustices are an individual experience at CHAI, shouldered by isolated employees. Informal methods of expressing concerns are no longer effective for this diverse organization of more than 1,700 employees.
    We stand in solidarity with one another to demand that CHAI Leadership:
    1. Create an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee that represents CHAI’s global workforce;
    2. The commitment of resources to an external Diversity assessment that involves active solicitation of feedback from employees concerning their concerns and experiences at CHAI, with transparent results available to all employees;
    3. The hiring of a dedicated external consultant to serve on the Committee.
    CHAI must lead in fair and equitable employment practices.
