As we vegetarians have limited choices anyway, why should Walkers make two of their previously vegetarian crisps non veggie??
Having asked this question to them their reply was:
'We at Walkers respect the views and opinions of all our Consumers and always appreciate it when they take the time to let us know their thoughts, as you have kindly done in this instance. However, we believe in our decision to include a wide range of great tasting, high quality home grown ingredients in our classic range of Walkers Crisps. This change does mean however, our Smoky Bacon and our Roast chicken flavours are no longer suitable for vegetarians as the seasonings do contain Freedom Food pork and free range chicken respectively.'
They clearly do Not respect the views of their customers as they are making veggie crisps non veggie and quoting Freedom Foods and free range chicken as an excuse. So-called free range chickens may involve thousands of hens being kept in a shed with limited access to outside and to limited land. Even in the better free range/organic farms, all male chicks are killed within hours – useless by-products as they do not lay eggs and are too scrawny for meat range chickens.
