Ask the producers of antiques shows in the UK not to feature (legal) ivory

There are many popular shows in the UK which value antiques  , and sometimes sell  them on behalf of the owner. They often feature items made from ivory and go to great lengths to say that because it was made before the C.I.T.E.S cut -off date of  1947 it is perfectly legal to sell, and clearly some of the often very beautiful items shown have been  made many years ago so there is no suggestion thart any law is being broken

However I am asking the producers of shows like Flog It, The Antiques Roadtrip and Dickinsons Real Deal to rethink their policy on featuring ivory products , as I believe it fuels the interest in them, which could lead to people who  are not experts ,unwittingly purchasing modern, and therefore illegal products, being passed off as antiques.

To whom it may concern.. I have created an on-line petition (attached)which is asking you to consider the question of whether ivory items should be included  in your antiques programs.  So many of us feel that by valuing and selling (legal) ivory products it promotes  interest ,and at a time when poaching is escalating to all-time highs it does seem that interest in ivory should not be encouraged. As you will see , more than 34000 people have taken the trouble to sign this. I respectfully ask, on their behalf that you re-consider you policy.

I await you comments with interest.. and hope in my heart

Kind regards
