Bowhunting–one of the cruelest modes of killing

Sorry for the photo not being of a deer.

Officials in the town of Huntington, New York, are considering allowing bowhunting–one of the cruelest modes of killing–in an attempt to reduce the area’s deer population. Bowhunters often spend hours tracking the blood trails of wounded animals, and many victims are lost, eventually succumbing unseen to their injuries. Families are torn apart, and orphaned young are left to starve. And reports of wounded deer careening wildly onto busy roadways or crashing through residential windows are not uncommon. Killing for population control also backfires because the resultant spike in the food supply accelerates breeding among survivors and newcomers—as is evidenced by the township’s repeated bowhunts!
Please urge town officials to remove bowhunting from consideration in favor of humane and effective control methods
