Like humans a cow is also pregnant for 9 months. New Zealand dairy farming practices see that calves are separated immediately from their mothers or at most after 3 days. I would like to see an animal integrity principals bill presented to the house of Representatives that allows a newborn calf the minimum of 9 months with its mother after birth considering she carried it for 9 months.
Having worked as a dairy farm assistant before from a long line of farmers, I have witnessed the amount of distress and anguish this causes when separation occurs and most of the time this is why cows won't exactly behave in milking sheds or approach humans because of such heavy resentment. Imagine having your new born baby ripped off you by the government because they have other plans for him or her. This should be considered no different than child trafficking. Being a different creature does not excuse the supportive mentality toward toxic practices such as this. The hypocracy in human logic needs to end. You really have to question the safety of human children around adults who believe it is ok to do this to baby animals because they have already part justified the logic of trafficking nature.
