Feature LA Guinea Pig Rescue On Ellen!

Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue and it's founder Saskia Chiesa, with a small group of dedicated volunteers devote countless hours in the care and education of abandoned and sick animals. When they heard of an emergency hoarding situation in No Cal they were the only group that responded.  It was a massive undertaking with many of the animals needing treatment for various ailments, 90% of the females were pregnant and the logistics on transporting and housing. Of approximately 1300 piggies, Not one was left behind and a year and a half later they all have been adopted and are in new families. The rescues' involvement does not stop with an adoption, they offer free health checks and nail trims for any piggy whether they were adopted from them or not. There are educational videos on common issues and care, they will help you find a partner for your guinea pig with bonding appointments,  teach the proper food and housing. The rescue also removes as many piggies as possible from public animal shelters where they are often are euthanized and give priority to any animal with health care issues. Guinea pigs are misunderstood and underappreciated, they are marketed as " beginner pets" in small cages with no education or guidance in their care. They also require specialized care from an exotic vet which can be costly. Saskia has s goal to open a clinic at the rescue,.
