It's a scary time for the North Atlantic right whale. There are now less than 400 left after the population received a staggering blow last June - 6 whales, or 1% of the entire species, died in just one month.A promising bill has been introduced in the Senate, but we are running out of time to protect these animals. Sign the petition today and urge the Senate to unanimously pass The Scientific Assistance for Very Endangered (SAVE) Right Whales Act NOW!
Every year, at least 100 right whales (25% of the population) become entangled in fishing line. The whales' main food source, a type of plankton, are moving towards colder and more treacherous waters as global climate temperatures increase. And many of the remaining right whales have been brutally, sometimes fatally, struck by vessels.
These hazards are all direct effects that the human population has on the North Atlantic right whale. Tell the Senate to set things right and pass the SAVE Right Whales Act before it's too late.
