TELL ILLINOIS LEGISLATORS: 340B SHOULD WORK FOR PATIENTS, NOT MIDDLEMEN
The 340B Drug Pricing Program was designed to help safety-net providers serve vulnerable populations. However, many 340B entities have misused and abused the program to the detriment of patients in need in Illinois. Instead, for-profit health system middlemen and some hospitals are using 340B as a profit mechanism, with little evidence that drug discounts are reaching the low-income patients the program was intended to help.
340B contract pharmacies, many of which are owned by middlemen in the healthcare system, purchase drugs at a discount, bill patients for the full price, and pocket the difference.
Illinois HB 3350 would only enable continued unchecked growth of 340B in the state and allow for continued abuse of the program, all while patients in need struggle to access care.
Tell Illinois legislators: HB 3350 will only enable unchecked abuse of 340B in Illinois. 340B legislation must include transparency and accountability measures that ensure low-income patients see the benefits of 340B.
