Decriminalize Marijuana Now!

  • recipient: U.S. Senate
This week, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) put forth a new bill that would remove marijuana from the federal scheduling system, effectively decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level.

On top of that, the bill actually encourages states to legalize marijuana at the state level. The bill proposes using federal funds to incentivize states that have enforced marijuana laws in a way that disproportionately targets low-income people and people of color to legalize marijuana. The legislation would apply retroactively, clearing federal marijuana use and possession crimes from people’s records. Those serving prison time for similar crimes would be able to petition for resentencing.

Booker’s bill has been described as the "single most far-reaching marijuana bill that’s ever been filed in either chamber of Congress." Please sign this petition showing your support!

Even though 60% of Americans support legalizing marijuana, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is trying to turn back the clock and revive the failed War on Drugs. Just this past month, he asked Congress for permission to prosecute medical marijuana providers who are acting in accordance with their state’s laws.

The time has come to legalize marijuana at the federal level and encourage more states to follow suit. Show your support by signing this petition!
