Hasbro seemed to repeat the events of "The Transformers: the Movie" when they took Optimus Prime away in "Transformers Prime: Predacons Rising". The next series picks up years after those events...but it does not seems as if Hasbro plans on bringing Optimus back in physical form...only as a part of Primus.
This is unacceptable. The fans' responses of Optimus' death in 1986 made it quite clear that there are people who cannot go on without this character...ficticious or not. It is perfectly possible to tell a captivating story without breaking hearts.
Tell Hasbro you want Optimus back...and NOT as a ghost.
To whom it may concern,
It appears to me that you are planning to keep Optimus Prime as part of Primus. That is, still dead. This is not a good idea
As you may remember in 1986, Optimus was killed off in the movie. Things became terrible. Fans grieved greatly. Children sadly pleaded for the return of Optimus. Parents wrote letters on behalf of their children. In addition, Rodimus Prime did not go over well with viewers at all, and ratings for the show plummeted. People started riots as well and even sent you death threats!
The same things could happen again. Seriously, you've GOT to STOP this! This is Transformers, not Band of Brothers or any other show based on a real war! And this is supposed to be aimed at children! Why would we want to expose our children to death and destruction?! And when those they come to look up to are killed, what are we to say then? Are we to tell them to just suck it up and say that people die? I don't think so!
Why do you do these things? It is perfectly possible to tell a captivating story without breaking people's hearts. Don't you understand? There are people who NEED Optimus and not like Obi-Wan Kenobi. (This isn't Star Wars, you know.) I myself have been so sad, I've even thought of suicide.
Quite simply, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
And think about this, too: if Optimus Prime is not an option among toys, they won't sell. If you want money so much, I'd strongly suggest keeping the cornerstone of Transformers with you!
Might I suggest that if you feel you must remove Optimus Prime, why not allow him to live physically and serve as an occasional mentor to the Autobots, plus show up on occassion like in the Rescue Bots series? No one seems to be bothered by that. In this scenario, we all win
In conclusion, I have to say that if Optimus is not brought back physically, you will get no respect from me. I see no reason to respect those who seem to like to play with our feelings and take away our hero.
Thank you for listening and I hope that you will take what I have said to heart and consider bringing back Optimus. I believe I speak for many fans. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Christine Dietzer.
