The issue: People unknowingly consuming health supplements retailed by unapproved and unregistered companies and suffering from severe health issues.
Most common reason for urban people to take health supplements is to fulfil their desire to improve overall health, maintain health, prevent health problems, and to boost immunity. Earlier, these health supplements like pills, powders and shakes that promised to build muscles and enhance energy were marketed only to body builders and athletes. But now, as the demand has increased among urban people, it is available to general public in supermarkets, gym and health food stores.
Fake body building supplements are in rise today as these unscrupulous manufacturers are taking advantage of the rising demand of health supplements in the market.It is estimated that more than 60% of the health supplements in the market is fake.
Fake health supplements products are on the use these days. It’s a major concern for both men and women because it is not only waste of hard earned money, but it also puts your health at risk. Counterfeit supplements may contain banned substances such as steroids, allergic substances like gluten, which may cause permanent damage to your body and mind.
Solution:
As a consumer, it is our responsibility to stay vigilant and buy lab tested and approved health supplement.It is always suggested to buy health supplements from genuine suppliers of reputed brands. Or you can buy health supplements online from trusted websites or from the company directly.
We can carefully check and identify if the product is genuine or fake. The most important is to check the labels, it will have poor quality prints, not stuck completely to the jar, you can spot spelling mistakes and the logos will be misaligned and the colour will differ from that of the original. If you see the hologram torn or not present, then you can stay away from such products.
Reputed manufacturers and the government should take strict actions against these unscrupulous health supplement companies and set regulations and do frameworks to stop these fake products from reaching people, else it may put the future of the country in danger.
