Rename Sepulveda Boulevard.

  • by: Glenn Byrnes
  • recipient: Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Whereas Francisco Xavier Sepulveda was a Mexican colonial soldier, settler, and patriarch of the prominent Spanish-Mexican Sepulveda family in the early days of Southern California,

and whereas he and his descendants enslaved and slaughtered countless Native Americans,

and whereas the longest street in the city and county of Los Angeles is named in his honor;

therefore, we the undersigned hereby request that the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors rename Sepulveda Boulevard so that will no longer honor a family that committed slavery and genocide.
