Please join us in asking the Board of the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, Inc. to reconsider hosting this upcoming show that promotes the breeding of pit bull type dogs and exotic bully mixes.

###

Dear St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, Inc. Board Members,

On August 4th, the St. Joseph County 4H Fairgrounds will host an event with the Bully Registry Company (BRC).

The BRC is an organization that promotes the breeding of both pit bull type dogs (pit bulls) and exotic bully mixes.

Out of consideration for our community and the large number of abandoned pit bulls in our shelters we are respectfully requesting that you cancel this show.

Pit bulls make up the largest percentage of dogs in our shelters. The overpopulation issue from overbreeding these dogs is severe. Sadly, for this reason and others, this breed has the highest euthanasia rate in our shelters as well.

Many organizations and individuals are working to reduce the number of pit bulls that are abandoned and euthanized in our shelters. Despite these efforts, national statistics estimate that for every 1 pit bull placed in a loving home; 599 are euthanized.

St. Joseph County is a caring and compassionate community. We want to help these dogs and not hurt them. An event that promotes the breeding of pit bull type dogs and exotic bully mixes is not in the best interest of the dogs or our community. Please cancel this show.

Sincerely,
-The undersigned residents of St. Joseph County, IN-
