Halt the spraying of toxic chemicals in Fort Smith’s streets!

The spraying of toxic chemicals to kill mosquitoes is not a long-term solution. The chemicals kill off predators to mosquitos (such as dragonflies) at a faster rate than mosquitos and can even build a mosquito population that is resistant to the chemicals. These chemicals also runoff into the water supply and kill fish (also predators of mosquitos) and other wildlife.
Bat houses, bug zappers, and removal of areas of stagnant water are all more sustainable and less environmentally toxic methods of curbing the mosquito population. We cannot continue to allow our tax dollars to fund fumigation of chemicals that are toxic to our wildlife. Help protect our environment! Help find sustainable ways to control the mosquito population. End the fumigation of harmful chemicals!
