Demand for a Noise Barrier along State Road 9B for Montevilla Subdivision

On August 9, 2018, phase 3 of the S.R. 9B was opened in an effort to alleviate traffic congestion between Duval and ST. John counties. As a result, homeowners in the Montevilla Subdivision and several other communities in the Bartram Park area have experienced excessive noise pollution. The homeowners of Montevilla are experiencing an impact on their quality of life since the 9B extension was opened. As the traffic level begins to increase with the opening of the Durban Park Shopping Center within the next few months, so will the noise pollution. The Montevilla community (entrance at Vittoria Drive & Bartram Park Blvd) is the closest to the 9B extension and Racetrack Road overpass and is thus feeling the brunt of the noise.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) needs to re-evaluate the noise impact upon the community since their original 2014 evaluation. Both the FDOT and Developers are not installing a noise barrier to protect homeowners. Studies have shown that high traffic noise contributes to numerous health effects to include sleep disturbances, cardiovascular effects, and coronary artery disease.

Please help in signing and sharing this petition to insist that FDOT or Developers install a noise barrier to maintain a quality of life for Montevilla and other Bartram Homeowners.
