Animal abuse is not a joke. We demand an apology from Joan Rivers!

Joan Rivers -reported to be a supporter of animal rights and an active member of PETA- has abused the influential power she has as a celebrity in a most distasteful manner. While wearing a fur coat on the David Letterman show, Joan Rivers decided to use her moment in the spotlight for irresponsible and tactless "jokes" about animal abuse. Her pathetic attempt at humor has offended animal welfare advocates everywhere and we demand a public apology! It would be hard for anyone, devoted animal advocate or everyday pet owner, not to be offended by her comments about ASPCA commercials and her "joke" in which she "joked that she had broken her dog’s paw, poked out its eye and beat it for a part in a commercial…but it had died in the taxi on the way to the studio."

Not only were your comments on the David Letterman show about animal abuse lacking in both wit and humor, they were highly offensive to the people who work hard everyday trying to save the animals about whom you callously joke. Animal abuse is not a joke and we demand an apology for your distasteful attempt to make one out of it.
