In our ongoing efforts to Beautify La Brea, we are asking you to consider signing a petition for oak trees to be planted along the east (Baldwin Hills Estates) side of La Brea Ave.
North East Trees, a community-based nonprofit, has a $1 million grant to plant more than 3500 trees in Baldwin Hills and 2000 of those trees are slated for natural open space areas.
Wouldn't it be great to see some of those trees along La Brea? North East Trees has, in the past, planted trees on the streets below Jim Gilliam Park with the permission of the city and community members. We can make this happen for La Brea, too! With traffic increasing along this major thoroughfare, trees would add benefits such as hillside stabilization, cleaner air, and reducing the urban heat footprint.
We will be presenting the petition to both Council District 8 and North East Trees on July 8. Please sign today!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE email Solomon Rivera & Dina Andrews of Council District 8 voicing your opinion in favor of the trees. CD8 is requesting an independent landscape study for this hillside before moving forward but they are moving at a snail's speed to complete this.
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!! We need trees planted in November just before our rainy season!
