STOP Bethany Apartments

STOP Bethany Apartment Project is a grassroots coalition of concerned local residents and parents working to prevent Bethany United Methodist Church from building a 4 story, 101- unit, mid-rise apartment building in the middle of our peaceful neighborhood.

This project is detrimental to our peaceful, 60 year old neighborhood. Our already dense community cannot absorb the huge increase of cars, people, and traffic. The 4 story building is inappropriate for the character of our neighborhood and its location next to a busy elementary school proposes traffic  safety issues for our children.  According to our polls, 75-80% of this community are against this project. BUMC has a membership problem and is in need of money, which is reason behind this project.

Dear neighbors,
This is a reminder that tomorrow is a public meeting with the HHA at 3:00 p.m., at Cuney Homes, 3260 Truxillo, Houston, TX 77004
This meeting is extremely important to attend. We need as many people as possible to speak, and show up in force. Anyone can speak for 3 minutes, however, you must sign-in prior to 3 PM to be on the list to speak. We are a diverse neighborhood, who opposes a 4 story apartment, for low-income tenants. We would not have bought our homes knowing this.

As you know, Bethany church is applying for Sec. 8 funds through HHA and HUD. We need everyone on board. This is a reminder for the people who oppose this apartment building, will be meeting on Monday April 24th at 7PM at Longfellow Elementary. This is NOT an "open to the public" meeting. This is for people who have signed the petition, and who oppose this project ONLY. If you know someone who opposes, feel free to invite them. Thank you

To all who oppose this apartment building being built by Bethany United Methodist Church, we are having a group meeting this Monday, on April 24th, at 7PM at Longfellow Elementry School.
At this meeting, we will provide updates, discuss our legal options (with our attorneys) and provide answers to any questions you might have.

Dear Opposition,
We would like to inform you that the Bethany Apartments have taken a new turn. Dan Jones (pastor) of Bethany is now applying for HUD funding, through the Houston Housing Authority (HHA). We are very busy on many fronts. Please send us your email address for future notifications (this site does not allow us to have them).
