Pennsylvania, Delay New Voter ID Law!

  • by: Ann W.

Pennsylvania’s new Voter ID legislation is threatening to leave an estimated 750,000 potential voters unable to take part in November’s election because they don’t have State-Issued Identification. This Republican-sponsored legislation unfairly targets poor people and minorities.

The new legislation will require all voters to present state-issued photo identification, even though they have already met the necessary voter registration requirements. The major obstacle in this new process is that most residents don’t know about it and will be turned away from the polls come election day without the proper ID.

The Democratic Party is working diligently to spread the word so the voting process is fair, but critics of the law are quick to point out that this last minute initiative is designed to ensure a win for the Republican Party in the upcoming Presidential election. Please keep the election process fair and demand the delay of Pennsylvania’s Voter ID Legislation until all citizens have the chance to get the necessary identification!

Dear Governor Corbett,

The new Voter ID Law has the potential to disenfranchise 750,000 citizens from their right to vote!

While Voter Fraud is a serious issue, statistics prove that it is as rare as being struck by lightening, making this initiative a costly, unnecessary move.

In addition, it has been widely stated in public that Voter I.D. requirements will insure a win for the Republican Party in your state! Sir, this is not the American ideal. When you were elected to represent your state, you agreed to represent the interests of ALL members of Pennsylvania. This is an obvious tactic to control the vote in Republican favor!

We (the undersigned) implore you to do the right thing and delay the implementation of the new Voter ID Law until everyone has the chance to meet the new requirements!

Sincerely,
